Back Story

Established in 1919, 4th generation owner, Gina Brown and two dedicated, long serving jewellers, Peter Letzbor and Warren Brown, together have over 100 years of industry experience! Today Whitneys Jewellers is Dubbo City’s longest established jewellers with a reputation for customer service, product quality – First Time, Every Time.

Peter Letzbor, Master Jeweller

Trained in the traditional way in Vienna, Austria he became a Master Jeweller in 1978 and went on to become the Master Jeweller for the well-known Bruce and Walsh Jewellers in King Street, Sydney.

Peter loves working for Whitneys. “It is a small family jewellers and because it has a fully operational workshop, everything is made on the premises which is rare these days. I thought I’d just come out to Whitneys and help over Christmas – that was 10 years ago – I love Dubbo and working with Gina and Whitneys family.”

Peter has a passion for design. He remembers almost every piece he has ever made, which is astonishing given he makes around 150 rings each year.

Peter says, “When a customer gives me a hug and says ‘I’m so happy’, and when they appreciate their handmade piece and really enjoy wearing it, that is the nicest thing for me.”

Custom designers and manufacturers

Whitneys Jewellers’ on-site jewellers are specialist custom designers. They create the perfect and timeless engagement ring from design to manufacture. Customers may have a style or design in mind or may seek inspiration. A consultation with Peter Warren and Gina will ensure that customers’ needs are met through discrete, personalised service, quality of design and manufacturing and value to money.

Hand sketching and CAD  (Computer Aided Design) techniques are used in the design stage. Customers can be assured that conflict-free and certified diamonds are used together with a colour spectrum of precious and semi-precious gemstones. Pieces are made in platinum, white, yellow or rose gold metals. All engagement rings can be modified to meet precious metal, gemstone or budget requirements.

Restoration and remodelling
